How many lessons will I need?
A frequently asked question with no simple answer. It all depends on your previous experience and abilities. The national average is approximately 40 hours of professional tuition, however this figure varies according to age and individual learning speed and other factors.

How do I study for my theory test?
There are many study aids available for this from many shopping outlets and should be done in your own time along side taking your practical driving lessons. Remember there are two parts to the test, the theory questions and the hazard perception. If you have access to a computer the practice DVD's are an excellent choice. A good instructor will ask frequent questions throughout your lessons which will reinforce the theory learning. Learning the theory can reduce the amount of lessons you require as you will have the knowledge required for your practical driving, so get studying, it will save you time and money!

Should I learn with my parents/friends whilst having my lessons?
There is not right or right answer here, practice makes perfect, however, not matter how well intentioned parents or friends are, they are not professional instructors and may therefore pass on bad habits or give wrong instruction, so beware. If you do choose to do this, use it practice what your instructor has taught you rather than learning new skills.

When should I take my test?
Your instructor will advise you when they think you are ready to take your practical driving test. When you are nearing test readiness a test date will be booked, this date is movable forward or backward to give more or less time if required.

I have passed my test, what now?
Congratulations you've passed your test! Do you still feel nervous? Don't worry this is natural as you won't yet have driven alone and have been fully in charge of a car. Take it easy and remember what you have been taught and maintain your driving test standard at all times! For cheaper car insurance take the 'Pass Plus' course, not only will this save you money but it will also advance your driving skills and teach you how to drive safely on motorways.
